I was in Singapore & this artwork was printed on a baseball hat? Idk if you're aware of this? I took a photo but it's on my phone. I can send it to you if you'd like.

I absolutely adore this one. How lovely. It would make a great textile for fabric.

How did I just discover you? How did you do this? Your animals/creatures/insect are impeccable a perfect  balance of real and stylized

How did you do this? Is it ink? Or maybe a pencil?

it was pencil, & then i had some watercolor on a separate sheet, overlayed them and messed with color in photoshop :]

Wonder why they say they come every 17 years? You certainly hear them every summer,I guess this year we'll see them too! YUCK!!

It's a different genus than the ones you see every summer -- they live underground for 17 years and then all at once come up for a couple months in droves, breed, and die. Totally different life cycle from the annual ones!

Yeah, I've saw the previous batch 17 years ago! Birds catching them in mid-air...they love them. :wow:

I hate when they buzz past your ear, seemingly flying so slow and the shells of themselves they leave behind!:x

They do have pretty wings and the one's I've seen are a nice iridescent green color! :-)

I have one as my avatar to gradually get used to looking at 'em.

i think the insects themselves are goooorgeous, but i can't help being really really freaked out by their shells.

it was 2008, the year i graduated high school, last time the 17 year cicadas came up. as a senior prank a bunch of people caught tons of cicadas and let them loose in the school, they were everywhere. guys would eat them in class to freak girls out.
i wish i'd known at the time that they were 17 year old creatures, it makes you feel a lot more respect towards them!

That must have been a fun day for the teachers (not). You're a brave one Teagan! If I were there and saw the infestation in the school, I'd still be in therapy!:giggle:

I'm probably gonna change this silly avatar to something more human.:-)

My fiancÚ is well aware of my deep love for your art and my out of control obsession with cicadas and for Christmas, I received this print on a society6 phone case from him :) I am very happy with it.
(I am also seriously considering getting a cicada tattoo...and commissioning you for the art. That would have to be in the future though.)

I like the sounds cicadas make. They make me really happy! I really like this artwork too, though it makes me feel like I'm going to step on a bug if I walk anywhere barefoot, even inside. XD

i like their sound too, it reminds me of summers as a little kid.
maybe you WILL step on bugs! once i was watching this little caterpillar walking across the sidewalk as i sat at a bus stop and then this man walked past and stepped on it (without realizing) and i watched my little friend shoot yellow oozy goo everywhere. saddest moment ever.

Yeah. They make me really calm, believe it or not. Crickets, I think, too. Yes, some crickets.
Well, that's not a nice thought... XD And man, if I watched this yellow goo go everywhere, I'd probably be traumatized and never get over it. I was playing with some fireflies as a kid and I thought I "broke" it, like some flashy yellow ooze was on my hand or something.
Also, it reminds me of this slug I saw. It had a cheetah pattern on it. Oh, irony!

Did you study Fine Arts or Visual Arts?
couse I'm impressed with your works, the clean lines, pale colors, so noveau. How long you've been drawing? think you spent a lot of time to reach to this stage of expression.
Could you help me with some tips and critics about my drawings? Just a look! it would help me so much!!

I majored in illustration at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, with an emphasis in fine art. I've been drawing forever, most dedicatedly since I was maybe 13. (I'm 22 now.) I'd love to give you advice if you have any specific questions for me about techniques or certain pieces, just let me know!

How do you outline this picture? I'm guessing the colours are watercolours, but how did you outline it oh so very neatly? from my experience, outlining watercolours using pencil turn out slobbish, but this picture of yours is stunningly clean and nice to look at! love it very much!

the lines are in pencil, and then the watercolor isn't actually on the same sheet of paper at all, i just scanned some watercolor blobs and superimposed them over the pencil in photoshop :]
